ANSWERS
Which file types can and cannot be backed up?
There is no minimum limit to the speed of the Internet connection.
The Backup Client can backup any file types and any file size, provided that
the file is accessible, you are allowed to backup the file type and that you
have enough space left on your account. Your Backup Administrator may have
disabled certain file types from being backed up. These files will have a red
icon with a white X.

to questions
How long does it take to process a backup?
The first time you backup it may well take a long time as this is a full
backup of all files selected. Note that these files are compressed before
they are transferred. Subsequent backups will only extract the changed
parts of your files. Typical daily online times are no longer than a few
minutes - even seconds! Larger amounts of data may take some time to backup
depending on the speed of your connection and the amount of changed files.
Keep in mind that the backup software compresses all your data before backing
up.

How do I know that my files were backed up?
To view all the files that were backed up, open the
Log tab in the Backup
Client. In the left-hand pane, you will see a list of all the previous
backup times. When you click on one of these entries, the details of that
particular backup will be displayed in the right-hand pane including which
files were backed up.

to questions
Can I backup open files?
Certain file types, e.g. Word documents, may be open but not locked for
reading so they can still be backed up. Desktop and Laptop Edition supports
PST file backup. Database files are mostly locked, so the Backup Client
cannot access the file to calculate the changes since the last backup,
but you can backup these files with an application plug-in or by using
Open File Manager from St Bernard.

My dial-up connection drops before my backup is complete
This is usually only a problem with the initial backup when connecting
with a slow dial-up connection. Some ISPs limit the length of a single
connection and will drop the connection once that limit is reached. The
workaround to this is to do the initial backup in stages by setting a limit
for the size of each backup. Select Options… from the Tools menu
and open the Performance and Limits tab. In the Limits section, set the
maximum size of each backup. If you set this to, say, 10MB then each backup
will stop once it reaches this limit. You can also cycle this process until
all selected data has been transferred. The Backup Client will transfer
all your files over a number of separate backups.
