ANSWERS
Is there a lowest limit for your internet speed?
There is no minimum limit to the speed of the Internet connection.
The key thing is that the lower the speed the longer it will take to do the
backups. The initial Snapshot Backup (to USB2 drive) only works for the Server
Edition so this is the best option for doing the first backup if your Internet
Connection is too low.
back
to questions
How secure is the system?
Completely!
The use of the encryption key, which only you have a copy of, combined with
the
Attix5 service which transmits the data using SSL secure tunnels to the backend
servers - the application has to use ports 443 and 8443 for outbound only as
the initiation is done from the client and not the server hence the ports only
need to be open for outbound. The ports do not have to be open for inbound
traffic even though the data comes back for a restore.
back
to questions
What happens if I lose my Encryption key?
For maximum security we do not hold copies of this key only you have a copy.
We recommend that due to the nature and importance of this key you give a copy
to a trusted party – either your accountant or bank as we will not be
able to re supply access if the key is lost
Do I have to reboot after installing the backup software?
Usually not, but the installer will determine whether your PC needs to reboot
and will prompt you to do so if it is necessary.
back
to questions
What is my User Name?
If you need to find out the User Name for your backup account, open the
Backup Professional Client, and select Options… from the Tools menu.
Your user name is displayed in the Account and Security tab under Account
Information.
back
to questions
Should I leave my PC connected to the Internet to backup?
You should leave your PC switched on but it is not necessary to be connected
to the Internet. If you backup using a dial-up connection, the backup software
will connect to the Internet, backup your files at the scheduled time, and
disconnect from the Internet.
back
to questions
What does the refresh button do?
It incorporates all changes to files and folders, since your last refresh.
The backup software refreshes every time you open the program. Refresh is
available for users who leave the backup software application open whilst
working.
back
to questions
How do I know the size of the selected files?
From the File menu, select Calculate size. The Backup Client will calculate
and display the amount of files selected for backup and the total size.
back
to questions
What are filters?
Filters can be applied to backup all the files of a certain file type. If
you apply a filter for *.doc files, all the *.doc files in that folder will
automatically be backed up. You may apply as many filters as you like, and
may even create your own filters and add them to the list.
back
to questions
How do I add a filter to the list?
From the Selection menu, select Filters and click on New filter. Enter a
name for the new filter and specify all the file types that you would like
to add to the new filter. For example, a text filter will be * .txt. Click
OK. Your new filter will be added to the filter list.
back
to questions
Can I edit filters?
Yes, filters may be edited by adding or removing file types. To edit a filter,
click on the Selection menu, select Filters, and click on Edit Filters. Select
the filter you wish to edit from the dropdown list. Add or remove file types
of your choice and click on OK. To remove a filter from a folder, right-click
on the folder and choose Deselect or clear the checkbox next to the filter
name.

to questions
How do I change my encryption key?
To change your encryption key, select Options... from the Tools menu, select
the Account and Security tab, and then click on Change encryption key in
the Account Setup section. Enter your old key and choose a new key. Confirm
the new key and click on OK. The server dialog box will appear and display
the message "Key changed successfully”. Note that you cannot
cancel this process.
back
to questions
What is the User Account limit?
Your backup account has a maximum size limit. If your limit is 100MB, you
can only backup files with a total size 100MB. When you reach this limit,
you have to deselect some of your files or ask your backup administrator
to increase your account limit directly with Voice Connect Managed Solutions
on 0844 412 72 82.
back
to questions
What is the Backup reminder?
What should I do when I see this message? It is an automated reminder to
remind you to backup your data. You have the option to immediately backup
when you see this message, or if you click on snooze, it will remind you
again later. Note that there could be snooze limits configured that will
not allow you to snooze the backup more that a few times.
back
to questions
When I install the Backup Client, I get a Javaw.exe initial failure error
The Installer is looking for .dll files that are not installed on the computer.
Install Internet Explorer 4 or higher and run the installation again.
back
to questions
What happens if I cancel a backup?
The Backup Client will cancel the backup or restore process when you click
on cancel. The next time that you initiate a backup, the Backup Client will
prompt whether it should continue with the previous backup or initiate a
new backup.
back
to questions
Error “Cannot change registry/cannot change display name”
You are not a member of the local administrators group and therefore do not
have the permissions to install the software. Ask you administrator to install
the software or to assign the rights to your account.
back
to questions
Is my data compressed?
Yes, your data is first compressed before it is uploaded to the server. In
Server Edition, you can specify a list of file extensions that must not be
compressed, to speed up the backup process, rather than spending time compressing
files that do not compress well.
back
to questions
Can I configure the Backup Client to use a proxy server?
Yes, Backup Professional supports SOCKS5 and HTTP Proxy.
back
to questions
How do I schedule multiple backups on one day?
The Advanced Scheduler allows you to add additional backup times. Open
the Backup Client, click on the Automate button in the Toolbar and select
the
Advanced… option
back
to questions
Can I backup while running other applications?
Yes, Backup Professional can run in the background so that you can run other
applications simultaneously. The software can backup saved files, even when
you are working with that file, as long as the application does not lock
the file in use. All changes up to the last save will be backed up.
Advanced setting: Open the Performance and Limits tab (Tools menu, Options…)
if you would like to change the Processor Usage or Disk Access to limit
the resources allocated to the Backup Client.
